Two Weeks Away

Think back to a monumental time in your life and then recall the moments that preceded that moment...those times when you anticipated what was to come.  Maybe it was something as magical as your wedding day or the birth of your first child, as challenging as the time when you set foot in your first collegiate class or as fear-inducing  as your first trip to the dentist (or maybe that's every trip to the dentist for you).

You may have remembered thinking "I know that my life will change after ________, but I have no idea what to expect."  Excited, anxious, impatient.  Tom Petty was right when he said "the waiting is the hardest part."

I was taken off guard this morning by the thought that three weeks from Saturday we leave for Opelousas.  I'm not sure how we came to this point, but there is no denying that time is ticking away and ready or not, something bigger than ourselves awaits.  Between now and March 3.  Between Dayton, Tennessee and Opelousas, Louisiana.  To completely take a passage of Scripture out of context, it is a mystery what we will be a month from now, but there is no doubt that we will return home changed people.

We invite you to check this page often for updates of what our Father is teaching us about himself, ourselves, Hope for Opelousas (our partnering ministry, hopeforopelousas.org/) and the life of Opelousas, a small city located within the poorest parish in Louisiana.
